I Can't Drive 55

Life is one beautiful trip.

2 Humans. 2 Dogs. 2-Door Car. 9 Hours.

Ran this same photo on fb and Insta; nobody got the Sammy Hagar reference.

It's been awhile since my last trip. I've been plenty busy, but sticking close to home. It's fun to have my birthday fall in Thanksgiving week, and occasionally on that Thursday. This year, the progeny and I took off on a spontaneous road trip to visit friends in Rosemary Beach, Florida for Thanksgiving. So basically, I celebrated by spending my 55th birthday in a car for 9 hours.

What's a road trip with matching Blues Brothers' glasses?

But I had fun!

Podcasts are a beautiful thing. We listened to Tim Ferris interview Mike Rowe, and then something deeply fascinating about the guy who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Riveting stuff. Mostly, I enjoyed spending time with Griffin. We discussed business and politics and food.

On most of my trips, I stop along the road about 2400 times to check out something that has caught my eye, take some pictures, maybe follow a sign to someplace fascinating, like The Tomato Museum. One would be hard pressed to find much of interest on the right angle that is 95 to route 10. We had an agenda and were in a hurry to arrive, so we limited ourselves to one culinary pitstop for jerky.

Now I can say I've had alligator jerky.
I am still 8 years old. I have to run down to the beach the minute I arrive. Griffin & Shannon think it's fun, too.

Dinner with people I don't know. Lots of fun making new friends.

The sunsets over the Gulf. Breathtaking. Doesn't this image remind you of a Maxfield Parrish painting?

Every sunset was a celebration. An event. Mother Nature's performance art.
And this is how they celebrate Christmas in Rosemary Beach. Fire dancers and ?Girls with red hair hanging from green ribbons?
